Drama accelerates the social and educational development of children. Auditioning for a part and performing on stage, builds resilience and confidence. Friendships and teamwork are nurtured through the process of supporting each other. Role play inspires creativity, empathy and the skill of resolving conflict. These experiences run through every Dramacube rehearsal, production and workshop as we share with children the magic of the performing arts through acting, singing and dancing..

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory

Dramacube are pleased to present Charlie & The Chocolate Factory officially licenced from Musical Theatre International.

Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film with songs from the motion picture including “Candy Man,” “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” “Oompa Loompa Song,” and “Pure Imagination.”

The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka’s army of curious Oompa-Loompas.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a crowd-pleasing, outrageous ensemble musical with plenty of delicious roles.

Rehearsals & Casting

Weekly rehearsals for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory are led by our professional Musical Theatre team in Hampton Hill and Twickenham.

Whilst rehearsing songs, scenes and routines, children will also learn about stage direction, characterisation and the importance of supporting ensemble. If your child enjoys acting, singing and dancing, they will love it!

Weeks 1-2: Workshops & Auditions

Our Musical Theatre team will help young performers explore and learn the story, characters, songs and routines in 2 weeks of workshop auditions. Young performers are asked to list the three parts they’d like to audition for and one part they definitely don’t want to play.

Week 3: Casting Announced

The Director will aim to cast every child in a role they’d like to play and that stretches their development. Everyone will have lines, songs and routines to learn for the show. We start rehearsals with our BIG opening number so the whole cast are involved and working together.

Week 3 to showtime! The cast will come together for 2.5 hours per week, 2 or 3 additional 4-hour weekend rehearsals and a full tech & dress rehearsal (on stage) culminating in 2 full scale performances at Hampton Hill Theatre.

Cast sizes are vary depending on the number of roles available and places will be offered on a first come, first served basis so don’t miss out – enrol today! (see full terms & conditions).
