It only seems like months ago that our talented cast were performing an excellent production of Matilda the Musical! And yet, here we are fast approaching the 2017 school summer holidays which means it has been almost a year!

Matilda was great fun to stage! We were so impressed with how much the cast achieved during that week. However, many children missed out on the project as they were unable to commit for a full week. Therefore,  this year we’ve made some changes to accommodate more people.

Our summer holiday events will run for three days instead of five. The workshops will take place in Kingston and Twickenham, giving parents more options around dates and locations. We’ve also made the workshops as accessible to as many people as possible by running a variety of promotions and discounts to keep the cost low.

This year Our three-day summer workshop is inspired by The Wizard of Oz. The workshop will give the children participating in the project an opportunity to work with a professional musical director, choreographer and director as they devise a show inspired by the famous film and story.

Event Information:

  • 9.30am – 4.00pm, 2-4th August, Tiffin Girls School, Richmond Road Kingston
  • 9.30am – 4.00pm, 16th-18th August, St. Mary’s University, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham

The event is priced at £99 for three days with a performance on stage on the final day.
There are still a few places available on each workshop so do come and join us for what promises to be three days of musical magic and a fine performance for friends and family to enjoy on day three. To book your child’s place please call 020 8408 0245.

There are currently 6 places available in the Twickenham cast and 8 places available in the Hampton Hill cast.

If you are joining us for the production you will have the opportunity to audition for a specific role at the first rehearsal. If you have performed in the show before, you will be offered an alternative role.

Charity Fundraising

Last year we raised thousands of pounds for our charity partner, Momentum through charity concerts, various events and readings. We are supporting them again this year and so far this year we have raised £910 in fundraising. First of all Dramacube Grandparent Peter Bowpitt raised £660 in January for giving up alcohol for a whole month. Then Dramacube Production’s Artistic Director, Steve, took up the baton in February. He literally walked over hot coals and raised £250 in the process!

May 2004 Momentum was founded by Bianca Effemey, and two parents Alison Trigg and Jacqui Coppellotti whose children had been affected by cancer. Consequently Momentum was founded to support children who are suffering with life limiting illnesses. As a result, the charity now helps children and their families from all over Surrey and South West London and they now have an office in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey. At any one time, they support over 150 families.

Their mascot is the Momentum owl, which is a symbol of protection, wisdom and strength, all the ways in which the charity hopes to be able to support a family through their challenging journey.

Dramacube started in 2012 with ten children participating in a Saturday morning class. During that time, the company has grown and evolved. By this Easter we saw over 120 children join us at Hampton Hill Theatre, all taking part in workshops, performances and productions.

As a small independent company without large marketing budgets, we’ve always relied heavily on word of mouth to keep us going. Therefore we estimate that approximately 70% of our members have joined us after receiving a recommendation from a friend.

We have always been extremely grateful for all the referrals and we’d like to say thank you by giving something back.

Refer a Friend

We are delighted to introduce a new referral scheme which will see us reward you with £20 off your child’s next project when a friend, who you have recommend, joins us for a holiday workshop, term time project or production. They simply need to mention your name when they book and we’ll deduct £20 from your next project fee. Your friend will also receive £20 off their first booking.

With our exciting five week musical theatre project starting on 22nd April, this is an ideal opportunity to spread the word about Dramacube and receive money off in September.

Thank you for your on-going support.

We are delighted to confirm dates for our Christmas show which will rehearsal from Wed 27 September and Saturday 30th September with performances at Hampton Hill Theatre from 19th – 23rd December. Watch this space for more information about the show and audition dates!

If you’ve been following our blog recently you’ll know that Tinkerbell has a tendency to travel around a lot inbetween rehearsals! Over the next few days we’ll be posting some snaps from her recent visit to a famous city – see if you can guess where! The name’s of everyone who guesses correctly will be entered in to a hat and the winner will get a pair of tickets for Dramacube’s production of Peter Pan JR at Hampton Hill Theatre this week. To enter simply post your answer on our Facebook, twitter or Instagram page. The competition closes on Thursday night. The winner will be announced on Friday. Good luck!
