Acting, Singing & Dance are important parts of any Dramacube Production. Use our helpful FAQs listing below to learn more about us and get involved!
Do productions have acting, singing and dance?
Yes, all of our shows have fantastic singing and acting and many have fun dance routines too.
How many productions are staged each year?
We stage two major productions each year, one in the spring term and another in the autumn term. In addition we stage workshop productions or showcases during some school holiday periods such as Easter and summer including an acting, singing and dance showcase.
How long are productions rehearsed for?
We rehearse our term time productions over a two and a half month period. This can vary depending on when school holidays fall and when the theatre is available. Holiday workshop productions and showcases are rehearsed for 3-5 days.
How often do you rehearse?
We rehearse our term time productions once a week for 2 – 2.5hours. In addition we hold two Sunday rehearsals in the lead up to the production, plus technical and dress rehearsals during production week.
Do you break for half term?
Yes, our casts who rehearse after school break for one week and those who rehearse on a Saturday break the weekend before and after half term. (This time is made up with longer rehearsals).
Where are your productions staged?
We work at local theatres in and around the Richmond borough. Many of our shows take place at Hampton Hill Theatre, but we have also performed at Questors Theatre in Ealing, St. Mary’s Drama Theatre in Strawberry Hill and Epsom Playhouse.
How often are auditions held?
We usually hold two audition workshops per year, however this depends on how many existing company members are returning for the next show.
What happens at the audition workshops?
Audition workshops last for 2.5hours and provide children with an opportunity to work on a song, a dance routine and a scene from the show we are auditioning for. There is no preparation required, however we do recommend that children are familiar with the story. If you love acting, singing and dance you should come along and find out more.
How much does it cost to audition for the company?
Workshop auditions are completely free, but you must register for the audition in advance by contacting us by telephone or email.
What happens if my child is offered a place in the acting company?
After the workshop audition, successful auditionees are offered a place in the acting company. If your child is offered a place in the acting company, they will then get first refusal on all productions until they turn 15. If your child is not offered a place, they are very welcome to audition again in the future.
When will we hear if our child has been offered a place in the company?
We contact everyone within one week, however this process can be much quicker depending on how many children have auditioned.
When will our child find out which part they have?
We cast specific roles on the first day of rehearsals and children are informed of their part at the beginning of week two.
What sort of part will my child get?
We cast the show based on the pool of actors who have committed to the production. Your child will be cast as a named part and will have lines and lyrics to learn as well as dance routines (where applicable). Every child is fully involved in the show from start to finish and all children will be acting, singing and dancing.
Is there an annual membership fee?
There is no annual membership fee to join the company, and you are only required to pay the production fee when you sign your child up to a particular production. The production fee is always clearly stated on the production page and on all booking communications.
Is there a limit on the number of tickets I can book?
Tickets are available on a first come first served basis and can be purchased from our website. There is no limit and we will always book venues which we believe have an appropriately sized auditorium to ensure no one misses out.
How much are tickets?
Tickets for our productions are priced between £6 and £15 depending on the scale of the project.
Do parents provide costumes?
Our costume designer will source and make costumes, however we will ask you to provide a base-layer. This is likely to be items such as black shoes, tights, T-shirts, white shirt etc. Sometimes children have additional items which they like to suggest for their character. This is always welcome and we are very grateful for any additional costume pieces which can be borrowed for a show.
Will there be lighting and sound?
Every show is run by a full professional stage crew, including a lighting designer, set designer, sound technician, costume designer and stage manager. We provide children with a professional experience, working in excellent venues with the latest lighting and sound equipment.
